What’s on in Leicester this May?

Here we are again with your monthly list of the best events, festivals and celebrations of Leicester for May! In the final month of Spring, the whole city is starting to feel the warmth of Summer right around the corner - with outside dining and post-work trips to beer gardens back on the table.

Having launched at the end of last month, make sure to catch the final few events of the Let's Dance International Frontiers festival this week before the 8th of May. The festival has brought a vibrant programme of world-renowned performers to our doorstep here in Leicester, reinforcing just why Leicester continues to remain at the forefront of arts and culture. Find out more about the festival here in our blog post, and make sure you try to catch the closing events before it’s too late!

This month Curve Theatre will be setting the stage for multi-award winning hit comedy ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’. The seven-year running 1920s murder mystery play has been hailed ‘gut-busting’ by the New York Times, and gained praise from many famous faces including Ant and Dec. The play will be showing at Curve from the 9th - 14th of May - get your tickets here!

If music is more your thing, there are some great events going on at De Montfort Hall this month! If you’re an ABBA fan, you have to catch the ‘Thank You for the Music’ show on the 14th, with the international smash-hit show bringing you all the group’s number one tunes! The highlight of the month though is set to be Leicester’s Concert for Ukraine on the 8th of May. The concert will showcase a celebration of Ukrainian culture through dance and music, including the award-winning Orlyk Ukrainian Folk Dance Ensemble. All proceeds will be going directly to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Another amazing fundraising event in Leicester this month is the LOROS Twilight Walk: A Royal Parade! On the 28th starting and finishing at King Power, join hundreds of supporters in this year’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee themed fundraiser for patient care. Get your tickets and dress up on theme in your best finery to enjoy regal entertainment and the community walk!

Throughout the month King Power will also of course be seeing some of Leicester City Football Club’s iconic home games! Watch LCFC take on Everton on the 7th and Southampton on the 22nd of the month.

Just as the month started, Leicester will be rounding May off with a celebration of art through what is looking to be the biggest Bring The Paint festival yet! From 23rd-29th May Leicester will be once again welcoming a great list of international talented artists to create over 45 large-scale artworks to come together across the city. There will be loads of opportunities for you and all the family to get involved with exhibitions, workshops, art tours and food & drink offerings.

Finally a reminder for our business professionals of the monthly no-pressure networking event, The Gresham Network. After such a successful launch last month, we are looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces at this month's event - let’s aim to keep Leicester's business community growing!
