The Gresham story features on podcast

“The Gresham has kept the heart of the building for everyone in Leicester and beyond to come and visit.”

Aparthotels have been most popular in Europe and America for years and only now becoming more and more opted for in the UK. The team behind The Gresham in Leicester boldly opted for an aparthotel and 13 months since opening this has proved to be a good move.

Felicity Cousins, editor at The Serviced Apartment News, recently interviewed Snizhana Yesaulenko, CEO of The Gresham about the story to date.

Listen to the podcast here.

Highlights from the interview, include:

  • The history of The Gresham building including its time as Fenwicks. From extra levels and floors to hidden vaults.

  • The challenges and successes and how they transformed the much loved and listed building into now being one of the key places to stay in the city.

  • Attracting guests who stay on a regular basis who visit, work, and perform in the city.

  • Bringing people back into that part of the city through the wider offer of The Gresham including The Black Iron Social and The Gresham Network every month.

  • People want somewhere else to work, not just their home or office. The Gresham is that third option and offers home from home comforts but with hotel service and experience. As well as a place to hire a desk away from home and the office.

  • Sustainability has been crucial throughout the development and moving forward the team aims to focus more on recycling and implement energy and water saving tactics as well as continue to choose locally for suppliers and services.

Looking ahead The Gresham hopes to become a central hub for the community - for both business and leisure. And a place local people are proud of and enjoy.
