The Gresham Aparthotel, Leicester, has taken the next steps on its sustainability journey by committing to fund one tree planting for every direct booking from guests.
Working with environmental organisation Ecologi, the city centre accommodation aims to be more climate positive by offsetting part of guests' carbon impact of stays.
Ecologi works with verified projects across the globe to contribute to reforestation and carbon capture, and The Gresham has kick started this pledge by funding 200 trees in Kenya's Mau Region, led by Eden Reforestation Projects.
The Gresham will fund more trees every month, one for every direct booking by phone, email or through the website.
Guests can keep track of the trees planted, and fund additional trees to offset their stay, in The Gresham Aparthotel's virtual forest which is a visual representation of the projects contributed to so far.
Mark Hills, General Manager, said: "We are constantly striving to develop initiatives and improve The Gresham’s sustainability impact and commitment to the local community.
"Working with Ecologi, and planting a tree for every direct booking, will support vital projects in reversing the effects of climate change, help The Gresham Aparthotel be more climate positive, and enable guests to make more sustainable choices."
The Gresham Aparthotel recently gained EcoSmart accreditation and has made environmental commitments in waste reduction and recycling, energy consumption, water consumption, and partners and suppliers.
